Rakeback

Poker sites make money by taking a small amount of money out of the pot when each hand is over.  The amount of money is very small relative to the pot size, never higher than 5%, but it is certainly not negligible.  After a number of hands the rake really adds up and it could easily turn a winning player into a break even or losing player.

An average player who plays a few hours every day is probably paying somewhere around $100 a day in rake.  Over the course of a year that adds up to as much as $36,000 being taken out of all of the pots they’ve won.

Poker rooms like to offer incentives to players in order to keep them loyal to their room.  One of these incentives is rakeback.  The poker room will pay the player around 30% of his rake back at the end of each month.  Rakeback is never offered directly by the poker room to all of its players because that would immediately reduce the room’s profit by 1/3rd.  However, poker rooms all allow rake back sites to publicly offer rakeback to the general public.

One such rake back website is Rake Tracker, which offers rakeback at many of the popular online poker rooms such as Full Tilt Poker, Absolute Poker, and Ultimate Bet.
